Marly's OMC PRP guitar, With side mounted soundhole.
I was looking for another kind of projection of the sound from the guitar. It developed in a sound hole mounted in the upper left shoulder of the guitar, First I did some research about these kind of models and asked all about guitars knowing Nicky Moeken from Guitar+. “where can I find something more about side mounted soundhole guitars” He told me that George Brunner from Switzerland and Patrick Eggle from England are building these kind of guitars. That’s where it all begun. When you play this model the sound is projected right in your face. Instead of going away from the player, the sound can be described as more growly in the lower section with warmly sparkling high and mid tones. This model has a lipstick pick-up at the neck and a piëzo under the bridge saddle. the Shadow SH Performer PRO Doubleplay pre-amp that we often using has a extra function, It's a fader. So you can Trim the amplified sound between the lipstick pick-up and the piëzo under the bridge. This gives the player the possibility to create a very defined comfortable sound on stage. the body is made of Honduran mahogany with an Adirondack soundboard, that is finished with a purple metallic nitro cellulose lacquer. All around the soundboard there’s a abalam purfling with ivoroid binding. The tuning machines are from Grover with MOP knobs. The bridge and fingerboard are made of E.I. Rosewood glued on a Honduran mahogany neck.
More detailed pictures following soon, when the guitar is coming home to daddy for some adjustments. because it’s on the road now with Marly.
